How to Clean a Bathroom with Tile Flooring

Try not to get overwhelmed before you start cleaning your tile flooring. You should pick up some basic cleaning materials that you feel comfortable using because you’ll use them more often. Today, we’ll be discussing how I clean several bathrooms each week along with some tips for you to use at home.

Scrubbing and Cleaning Tile Flooring

Tile flooring is built to last long term while also deterring water and moisture for many years. This makes for easy cleaning most of the time. I recommend cleaning the floor regularly to avoid build up and difficult scrubbing. The more often you clean the floor the easier it will be. Basic cleaning involves scrubbing the tiles with water and soap, hopefully that’s all you’ll ever need to use. If you have a build up of scum on the tiles you can also use more powerful cleaners such as vinegar, lemon juice, borax, baking soda and bleach.

Scrubbing and Cleaning Tile Grout

Cleaning the grout areas of the tile in a bathroom will be much easier if it’s done more often. It’s a rough surface of cement to hold all of the tiles together. If the grout is absorbing too much dirt it should be cleaned more often to avoid mold and mildew build up over time. The best way to clean the grout is to use an old toothbrush or a grout brush to scrub every line between the tile flooring. There are items on the commercial market for mold removal but if your tiles aren’t already dirty then you’ll be able to keep them clean by cleaning weekly.
